Orphen

Ever get tired of doing the same thing over and over, and you get a craving for something…..old? I recently came home from yet another long day at the day job, and was about to hop into my daily relaxation routine of eating grapes and watching anime. I crank up my Roku, and sure enough there is a wealth of beautiful shows waiting for me: HxH, Golden Time, Outbreak Company, Nichijou reruns (never gets old). They’re all great, but it hit me that what I really wanted was something classic. Every now and then I need to take a step back to what anime used to be, and that’s where Orphen comes in :D!

Orphen

This is a show I’ve had my eye on for years and I was finally able to pick it up at Anime Expo in 2013. I’m not going to throw any spoilers in here, but it is in the fantasy genre. There is nothing particularly special about it, but it fills a hole in my anime regimen. It’s just good to take a break from the world of computer graphics, ultra-realistic city-scapes, and infinite frames per second. Nothing wrong with all that stuff, in fact it’s great! It’s just every once in a while, you just gotta sit back, and look back. My next target is The Vision of Escaflowne, not just because it meets my recommended serving of classics, but also because it’s one of the best shows ever made. I would also love to get my hands on a Card Captor set, I mean was that a beautiful show or what? I recommend that everyone take a few hours every week to pay tribute to the greats of our past. Keep watching friends!
